Jordan
Written By Mariam Daghestani
I got to live in Amman, Jordan the last summer before college. Being able to live so close to my home country was absolutely amazing. From Umm Qais I was able to see the Golan Heights and Palestinian territories, reminding me how close I stood to historical landmarks. In my time in Jordan, I took Arabic classes, but maybe more importantly, I got to explore the local cuisine.
Some of my food adventure highlights include: making mansaf with family friends, milking a goat, learning how to make traditional saaj flatbread on a hot metal surface, beekeeping with a local beekeeper, and visiting the Souk al Suqqar on Eid night!
